Impulse buy! Cold water animal. :-(

You would think I would have learned my lesson from when I first started with tropical fish many years ago or at least have enough experience by now, but no. :-( I have not had money in the bank for months and when I saw a new species of fish at the LFS that looked perfect for a pico tank I am planning I had to ask about it. I was told just that they hadn’t been offered as much in the hobby as they used to be and when they saw them they had to order them…. I did not know they were a cold water species.

Now I need to figure out what to do with him/her. I realize I have a good amount of reading to do now asap, but I am also cramming for an organic chemistry exam and preparing two presentations for work this week. PLEASE HELP.

I was planning on setting up twin pico/nano(2.5ish) tanks inside of my hutch. I am thinking maybe I will build them both out of acrylic or try to find something that fits perfect. Could I set the one up with some fans above it, low lighting, small aqua clear HOB, and use it for this fish?

Has anyone done a cold water nano? The last question I want to ask is what else I can keep with it, at the moment I just want to save him as he is in my reef tank. I heard someone mention on wet web media to look at "Dave Wrobel re 'coldwater reefs' ". Any other suggested reading I could squeeze in 10 minutes or so?

Jon

PS. Please no unconstructive comments. I know what I have done. :-(

yeah, just make another nano and use as little equipment in the tank as possible to keep it cool. id say a little tiny powerfilter and a hunk of liverock and youre set.
