In need of advice for a leather coral

So i got a new leather yesterday and i don't know what to do. For one i am not sure what kind it really is, i was told it was a white/yellow leather but tried to google it and could not find it. I bought it because I felt bad for it, it was sitting at the bottem of a deep tank with just actinic lights on, it was "fuzzy" in a good way looking. Well when i got it home and looked at it i relized it split almost all the way. And it is not standing its self up. Also there is a peace on one of the heads that is mostly off and maybe forming a head as well? So what should I do for them? Leave them be? Cut them the rest of the way and separate them? Do they need proped up? I thought they stude them selfs up by them selfs? Sorry if this is too long I just wany to give them a much better life them they had.
Pic to come... Damn iPad grrr

It could be thick finger leather coral. Needs good amount of lighting. Give it some time to get use to your tank water & monitor it.

You could split them and then you would have two, or just leave them to grow like that. It's really up to you.
If you do split them, put them up in your live rock and just let them be. They will stand up when they are acclimated to the spot.
They appear to be a sarcophyton or a lobophytum

that's a toadstool leather. let those lobes fall off then you can band it to some rubble. sell it for a couple bucks and buy something else.

Sweet, thank you guys, they are looking much better now. All happy and standing up, I was thinking about starting to move them up in the tank. Now if I could just get my zoas and my unhappy Star polyps to be ok and open and keep there color.
