Does anyone in the club have a fish trap I could borrow or rent? I have to catch a engineer goby and I really don't want to have to take out all my rockwork to do so. I will return it as soon as I catch him.
Thanks.

Jach has one I borrowed with no luck. if that thing loves shrimp, I can show you how to catch it very quickly. I had a spoted hawk that never took to Jacks trap. so I got a very tiny hook and some coctail shrimp and some fine florocarbon line and caught him on the 2nd try. didnt hurt him a bit. if i know those gobies well enough, they will take the bait.

you think the bottle method that some use for shrimp might work? You would probably need a 3 liter bottle though. Is it a big goby?

good luck, Chris

Chris Thanks for that link

Steve im gonna try to bottle method with a 2 liter bottle & hope for the best. Hes close to 12 inches long.

Lindsey As far as catching him with a hook. That would be fun only problem is I would have to take the hook out its mouth & I dont want to touch him if I dont have to. The fish creeps me out he looks to much like a snake. Gives me the heebie jeebies. I def would have to have a drink or three to do that & I think I may just cut back on my beverage consumption for awhile.

aw he wont hurt you. I took the barb off so the hook just comes off when you release pressure. Ifn all else fails, I will give you a hook and some line.

Thanks I may take you up on it. I really got to catch this fish by next weekend so I guess I got something to do for the next few days when I get off. Livingroom fishin. I cant wait to hear the jokes start when my wife sees me doing that.

I'll tell you the easiest way to do it. If you enough trashcans/rubbermaid containers or whatever to siphon all the tank water out you can then just go in and pick him up. I did this just this week to catch a couple of angels that were picking at my sps. It seems like a lot of work but it isn't.

Don't listen to me next time :O

Ryan did suggest the bottle trick last week. I don't want the fuzzy little man peach to think I didn't listen to his suggestion.
