Well, after months of waiting for an acceptably healthy looking BSJ to come in to my LFS I pulled the trigger on a beautiful, large specimen with a voracious appetite. I looked him over with a fine tooth comb before bringing him home to make sure there was nothing amiss. I don't think it would be possible to find a healthier looking one to be honest.
I've kept pearly jaws in the past and this guy was a walk in the park compared to them in terms of painless acclimation. He took right to his preconstructed pvc jawfish hole and ate with gusto the next morning when I fed. 72 hours after introducing him I noticed a flash of discoloration on his body when he was feeding. I fed a bit more and confirmed my suspicions.. the start of the dreaded blue spot jawfish disease. Incredibly frustrating to have been so painstaking in selecting as close to a perfect jawfish as possible and then have it end in soon-to-be failure. Anyone know how long from onset to death is typical?
For those of you considering a BSJ, it's a very real possibility no matter how careful you are
