Incoming order from Live Aquaria...

Scrolling through the Diver's Den and seeing a few items I liked I discovered this gem...

It's a 10" colony of Acropora microclados. Upon further research I have found that the scientific name of the highly sought after "Strawberry Shortcake" is indeed Acropora microclados. Make your own conclusion.

I should be receiving it shortly. Upon acclimation, quarantine, and pending health/coloration, I will be fragging maybe about half of the colony out. There should be enough for a multitude of frags and several small colonies.

Anyone interested can reply here or PM me. I highly doubt anything will be ready for the swap, as I think that would be rushing it.

If divers den sells a coral they call a strawberry shortcake, it will run around $5-600. I've been watching their shortcakes that pop up on there. They ask a lot when they know that's what the coral is

Well, It came in this morning. Live Aquaria screwed up and didn't include my other two colonies in the box, a LE bottlebrush and multi colored stag. Willing to bet someone out there is going to be getting a couple additional specimens with their order.... how lucky.

Anyhow, From shipping it got broken into three large pieces and a few smaller pieces. I'm gluing the larger ones back together, and mounting the smaller ones on frag plugs. The colony seems to have kept it's coloration very well, and has a nice little red acro crab included! :bounce1:

Id be irritated if I bought a big colony for alot of money and it got all broken up. What if someone had bought it as a showpiece, being a large colony. I'd ask for some kinda credit, tell them it was going to be your tanks centerpiece and you paid alot for it and now its all broken up,......... I know you were going to break it up anyways, but its the principal of it. They should package an expensive coral better than that. Ive seen it done.

It was packaged pretty well. The box was leaking and the styrofoam container was crushed in at the side. Fedex gave custody of the package and reported it as damaged, so I might have an argument there. Depending on what the verdict is on my two missing pieces, I might pursue it.
As it looks now you cannot tell that it was ever broken apart, but of course the fractures in the skeleton are still there and might always be suspect if I decide to keep it in tact.
There are three super sized frags mounted up, one is more like a colony. The green is there, the pink is faded though. When coloration returns they will be good to go. I know it can take a while for this species to color back up, but the good news is that there doesn't appear to be any browning out / bleaching whatsoever.
I will be dosing AA and target feeding coral frenzy in small amount every day or two to encourage healing/growth/coloration.

Here's a picture. I don't have a good camera so used my webcam.

Not a whole lot of PE yet. Hopefully it will start showing some the next couple of days.
