Injured chocolate chip starfish. Any hope?

Noticed my chocolate chip starfish was wedged under a shell and looked hurt. I gently removed him and he has 2 damaged chips and some skin missing on one leg. One chip looks like it will fall off and is barely hanging on. Any advice or hope for it? I have had it for over a year and it is always getting in bad spots or on its back and i have to help, but this takes the cake.

Never had this experience with a starfish but I'd assume that since they can regrow their legs it should be okay. I'd try feeding him; if he eats there's a good chance he can repair the injury. I'd feed him every other day to promote rapid healing.

I can say from having multiple feeder stars, that usually if one is injured, the mortality rate goes down significantly.

Starfish are easily prone to infection, if the animal is kept in sterile conditions, it may recover.
