Innovative Marine's Nuvo Skimmer

Hello all! I was excited today when I went into my LFS to check out the Biocube skimmer for the back of my 38g Nuvo and found that they had just received the new Nuvo skimmers in the store this morning! They are really great looking with the tank and I will be getting one pretty soon. (I have just started cycling today.) I just thought I would see if anyone else has seen/used this yet...

Hmmm...I didn't think it was being released until the end of August. You'll have to give us some updates on its performance. Also, I added a third light to my tank so I have one light in the center and the other two on each end. The two on the ends connect to the back of the tank where the second chambers are. Will this set-up allow the newer skimmer to be used? I'm thinking the light attachment on the rear of the tank will probably get in the way of the skimmer being added to the chamber.

I've got the same 'problem'. Collection cup looks tall. Just played around with the biocube skimmer, it won't interfere with the cup.

Did you pick one up? Are you using one it yet? Or did the store just get in a display to get ramped up for the release?

I have the Hydor slim skim Nano in mine right now, but I will have to see how well it keeps working once I stock my tank up. If it doesn't get the job done guess I will be looking into the midsize IM skimmer.

Does that fit easily into the 16g Nuvo? Where do you have it placed? Any pics?

IDK about the 16 I have it in a Micro 30. It fits nicely into one of the filter bank spots in the back. I would think it would fit in the 16 as well.

I got a msg from the guys at Innovative Marine stating none have shipped out yet. about aother 2 weeks give or take and away they go.

I need to call them to see if the skimmer will work with the third light, and if not, if it could be modded to work. The extra light is more important than the skimmer though the skimmer would be nice. I really like that I could get the skimmer in white to match my tank.

Salty, that is a nice setup! what kind of light is that in your cheato?, how does it work for you? good growth?

also would the hydor skimmer fit in the chamber where you keep your cheato?
sorry for the million questions but i have the 8gal version and trying to do the same kind of setup you got going.
