Instant Ocean Salt, Where to buy?

I need some instant ocean salt. (Let's just say there is 0 organisms in my system that use calcium and I don't want a high calcium salt. I don't want to debate my choice of salt. My tank chemistry stays beautiful with this stuff and I am not changing.)

I just want to two retail stores because one of the websites showed the price only $0.10 more expensive then I could find online. I go to the store and of course the price is twice that which it shows online.

Petco has free shipping if I spend 50 dollars which is twice what I had hoped to spend, but still the cheapest price. I am traveling from Newark to Lewes tomorrow, so I will be going through most of the state. Where should I buy? Any cheaper options?

That Pet Place has it the cheapest I have seen. I forget the actual price the last time I was there but it was around 30 I think. Give them a call and ask, or check it out online.

Bucket or bag? Petsmart in Dover has bags, but were out of buckets as of last thursday. They may have restocked. It was sale priced, but I don't know how long the sale was on...

Bucket. I'm getting ready to make 80 gallons at least when I get back from my parents. The retail stores up north by the hospital was out and they were charging about $44. The other retail store near the mall had them but was changing about $62. I was not paying that when I knew I should be able to get them for half that. I think I will be ordering from Petsmart online tonight.... But that might take a long time to get it shipped.

I was going to head to that pet place in a couple of weeks, but wanted to wait until I had my tanks ready. I think that is where I am going to get my substrate though. I was trying to figure out what I wanted to buy online, but I think I just need to go see it in person.

drsfosterandsmith.com or bigalsonline.com buckets about 28. to31. and bas 10. bucks shipping aint bad but i would throw in a few other things to spread the s/h

The Petsmart off of Churchman's road, in the outlet with the Home Depot and TJMax and all that has IO Buckets, we only have one or two at a time but we have them. I can't quite remember the price but it wasn't that bad I don't think.. I want to say about $43.99, but if I'm wrong ((I haven't been in there for a week or so, on vacation)) its going to be in that price range. HTH

Print out the petsmart link above and take it into the store. They will price match, best in a pinch deal you can get if you can't make it out to one of those bigger stores.

print out the less expensive one. there both the same thing, there trying to trick people by using an old photo of the bucket

I still use MEI crystal sea marine mix. got my last 6 boxes from the aquarium center, over in jersey. $19.99 a 150 gallon box. plus tax and tolls to drive there of course. i might go get some more soon. it's worth the drive. and while im over there in the neighborhood i can drop by in living color and one other small store around the corner to look at corals and critters. that makes for a nice afternoon trip. it's only an hour drive .

Something to keep in mind Jon is to watch for That Pet Place to have there annual tent sale which I believe was in Feb or March? Buy 3 buckets of salt and the 4th bucket is free.
The MEI salt Ken is talking about is good stuff too. I've used it and had the same results as IO for a cheaper price, the only problem is availability.
Stocking up at the tent sale is a good idea, I saw one woman with 8 buckets (IO) on a flat cart at the last sale (ken might have seen her also). Iasked her if she had a business and she said no, her husbands 300 gallon tank uses so much that it's enough to last her a full year lol. I couldn't imagine having to change that much water over a year. Essentially she paid for 6 buckets and got 2 free.
Locally, unless you can get a place that will price match, your going to pay through the nose for salt.

I have heard about the tent sale for years and was in town last year for it. Unfortunately I did not get into the reef club until later and couldn't afford three buckets for my little primitive 20g FOWLR that I was keeping at the time.

I realize paying for salt locally would be expensive and I have to pinch every penny. Had I just bought my salt I wouldn't have been able to buy my new coral. I think this year however I will set aside some money for the tent sale. And like I said I am getting ready to set up some new tanks so I will be making a lot of water for them as well as many water changes to get them ready for animals.(I will be taking water out of my current system so it will have not just clean water, but clean water with live in it)
