Interceptor... darnit.

So I get home from work tonight. I feed the fish and do my usual routine of checking things out and staring at my tank for a while before lights out. I am checking out my ORA Roscoes and much to my surprise notice small red.... bugs... about 15 or so of them, not infested, but they were definitely there. Damnit! That coral is kind of on its own rock away from any other acros. The two closest corals are a hot pink mille and a nathans green mille. So I start checking out the other corals. I found one bug on my pink lemonade frag and no bugs on any other corals.
Ill relate any recent additions to my tank and hopefully someone can figure out where these damn things came from.... since Im at a bit of a loss.
- 3 or 4 weeks ago - bought a colony off of a guy.... I set it in my tank and within 5-10 seconds of doing so see that it has some redbugs on it. I yanked the coral out and promptly returned it to the seller. Now from what I gather this would not be enough time to infect any other corals.
- Recent frags - M setosa, Tyree Royal plumb, Tyree rainbow monti, ORA Pearlberry, ORA Red Planet. None of these corals had any bugs on them when I checked tonight.
- I have added some hermits and snails recently - I wouldnt think redbugs would ride in on these guys.... or do they?
Here are my theories on how this happened. Please feel free to confirm or deny.
1. 10 seconds was long enough for some redbugs to jump or crawl off onto the floor of my tank and thus ended up on my roscoes
2. The rosecoes has had them since I got it (about 6-7 months ago). However, I am inclined to not think this is the case as I figure all of my acros would be infested by now. Also the coral had great color still and good PE which leads me to believe it had recently gotten the bugs on it.
I went ahead and did a iodine (lugols) dip on that coral and based it a bit with a turkey baster. I heard that this would help dislodge some of the bugs. When I put the coral back in the tank I couldnt see any bugs left on it. However, I know they are crafty little SOBs and I still need to run some interceptor.

Sooooo who out there has some that they would be willing to part with? I would offer frags... but thats probably a bad idea. Luckily I have cash. I plan on attending the ORCA meeting tomorrow so we could do it there if thats cool.

you can get some at my local vets office...they gave me 1 tab that i have just in case of emergency...it was like $12...

Waterford lakes animal hospital...They are great, just explain your situation...

They did give me strange looks when i first explained, but that wouldn't probably surprise them after i went in lol...It was the guy doctor that gave me the pill...his name is John Hutchinson

I'm willing to bet that that it came on the frag you saw them on. Eggs could have come off from being placed in the tank and hatched and all you need is one and they are off to the races multiplying.

Heck, unless you know a store actually uses interceptor it could have come from that also even if you dont physically see them sometimes it could be from eggs.

Iodine wont do much other than spread them around.

Your best bet is to do what Swirlygig said and to go to your vet and explain to him that you're using it to get rid of a pest just not on your dog. I always recommend bringing a piece of literature or two about it just so they don't think you're crazy. I think quite a few vets in this area help with that sort of thing though. I'm pretty sure Lake Underhill animal hospital does too.

Fortunately I haven't ever had redbugs so I don't know if Eastwood Animal hospital would help or not but Dr. Taubel there is really great so he'd probably also help.
