Interceptor dosage question

Hello users!

My tank has approximately 170 gallon.
I intend to use half a tablet. Is it enough? Thinking of doing one treatment only.
Recommendations please!

there is no point in doing the treatment if you only do one. with red bugs, ive found that that more is better than less on dosing. since the life cycle of these critters is still not known, its best to do 3 treatments spanning the course of 3 or 4 weeks, with 1 week intervals. of the threads i've read, and from personal experience, its best to do the 3 treatments to be sure the bugs dont come back. for those that have not done the 3, they seem to return in their systems in about 3 to 6 months

Thanks. There are different suggestions on dosage. What did you do? I can do more treatments as my vet sold me a package of interceptor. My understanding from what I've read is that a tablet can treat 380 gallons? Some overdose apparently does not hurt the corals...Is this true??

IME this is exactly true. I did 3 treatments on my 125 and cut one tablet into 3 pieces. Do 3 treatments for sure.

overdosing will harm nothing other than crustaceans. crabs, shrimps, pods, etc. i did 1 megadose on my tank, half a tablet for a 75g, and i still found some pods scurrying around after lights out, so dont worry about decimating the pod population, it WILL rebound

Just did a 24 hr dose and changed 20% of the water. However, I did not have any carbon and the stores were closed last night. So the carbon only gets installed today. No ill effects after over 48 hours!
I can see more PE. This stuff is amazing!

Yes interceptor is the bomb. I usually dose a bit more then recommended and leave it in longer...I just do it before a regular water change, and add some carbon after.

Last time I actually only dosed 2 times and it was probably an underdose too because I have about 200-250G of water in the system and just had one large pill (for 380G recommended) on hand. No reoccurance of the bugs and its been a half year or more.

I have a whole pack so I can treat over and over and over. Or give them away to nice fellow reefers!
