Hello all.. I'm from the reef side and I have never kept a Octo.. but after reading and looking at pics.. i have become somewhat inspired.. my question is.. I have an old 35 gallon all glass tank.. What would i need to make an octo tank (lighting? rock? substrate? filtration?) Also is there any octos ppl recommend? and are any of them not nocturnal? I dont' wanna do a slipshod job and kill the octo.. so i wanna make fully sure that i'm prepared to take on something like this.. thanks in advance

Hi

There is an article on tonmo.com with all the equipment needed at http://www.tonmo.com/cephcare/equipment.shtml

Best octopus to look at for a beginner is Octopus bimaculoides (bimac) There is a lot of info available on them on this site. They are diurnal and not so prone to eascaping!

Let us know if you have any other questions!

are bimac's easy to keep? meaning how much and how often do you have to feed? what's required in maintaining one of these beautiful and curious creatures? like in the article it says that i need a filter.. will a live rock and live sand be enough? or will i need a canister..cause i know that canister filters are havens for nitrite.. or nitrate.. i always get those confused. hehe and ATM i have a reef tank set up in a 55 gal that is going fine and dandy...
