Japanese Cherry Anthias, Sacura margaritacea 4"+

The Cherry's are actually very nice and aren't often seen. I was in LA last week and had a chance to see all three Cherry's along with the japonicus. The metallic scales on the Cherry's are very cool. I wasn't as impressed with the japonicus, but it certainly is a pretty fish.

Definitely a cooler water fish, like many of the Japanese endemics that come through. And yes, the finnage is very interesting. A striking fish.

LADD had cherry anthias a while back. IIRC they sat on them for quite some time.

I'd venture 68-72 range, or cooler if possible..... most of these critters don't do well long term with temps over 75.

Suprisingly, Sacura are often kept at tropical temperatures (Aquarium of the Pacific for example). I always try to keep them around 68 to 72 degrees. The Callanthias need to be kept cooler. Google Sacura + Hemdal for an online article I just wrote about them....
