Hey everyone,
I figured I would introduce myself to the group. I will be moving to Tucson the first of the year from Pennsylvania. Due to the rapid nature of the move, I was forced to get rid of my 5 year old 90G reef. The dude in Pittsburgh is getting a heck of a deal as I am selling the whole system (livestock, rock, corals, halide lighting) for $500. It kills me to sell my reef, but there is no way I am going to be able to move it.

So I guess I am going to have to start anew. When I get settled, I probably be hitting you guys/gals up for used equipment.

I have some neat ideas I would like to use on my new system including solatubes for natural lighting supplemented with a DIY Cree blue dimable LED system. Anyone using Solatubes in the area? Seems like a great approach since it is so sunny there.

Anyhow, I just wanted to say hello, and hope to talk with everyone soon.

hi, have a safe trip and move, sorry to hear of selling and sometimes starting anew can be refreshing too. i'm sure you will enjoy the sun and warmth here and get plenty of help with frags and equiupment. i might have a pretty new vertex 80 in protein skimmer if you would be interested in that. others i've seen have frags and such. lots on craigs list as well. laura

welcome to Tucson. If you dont mind me asking, what brings you to Tucson? Tucsons reef scene is pretty low key. We couldn't get a club started to save our lives. At the same time all the reefers I have met have been really cool and the local stores seem to be getting better every year. Have a safe trip and hope you have your sunblock ready.

I keep a mixed reef, zoas, soft, sps, lps, but have been wanting to ditch the softies because the toxic soup doesn't seem to do the sps very well. I actually am very interested in LPS and zoas, so my next tank will probably have mainly that.

I am accepting a new position at UofA starting in January. I am not an active member of my local club, because, well frankly I didn't seem to get much out of the meetings. I found the club forum here at RC a better resource and allowed the same access to meet the fellow reefers without the hassles of a formal club. However, I have been very lucky to have been able to meet A. Calfo and Steve Pro, which is only because our club is so formal.

Anyhow, I'm sure it will take a while to settle enough to build another reef. Hopefully in about 6 months I'll start looking for a tank and planning a setup. Until then I guess I'll drink beer. :)

Alot of us old timers did not like the idea of a formal club either because of all the hassles as well. In the next six months if you need help drinking that beer LMK.
