All,
So my buddy has a 90 gal and about a month ago he added a juv Imp Angel. Last week the Angel got Ich and the other fish (trigger and wrasse) showed cysts as well. The Angel died so he decided to treat his FO with copper (Cupramine).
It's not that big a deal since he has no "real" live rock in the tank just coral decorations etc..
The two infected fish have at least cleared their cysts and are looking pretty good after about a week of treatment. He is on his way to a minimum 14-21 days of treatment.
While I would probably gone with Hypo in my tank since I have live rock, He asked me this question and I didn't know how to answer really.
He wants to add a fish in this tank as a replacement for his lost angel not necessarily another angel though. Would it be smart to add the fish to the tank as it stands now with the copper in it effectively making this a very large QT tank and start filtering the copper out of the system after some time if the new addition does not seem infected?
I couldn't see a reason why he couldn't do that, except for possibly stressing out a new addition too severely by adding him into a tank that has copper in it. He could filter down the copper some too but that would make it ineffective right?
Just looking to hear other folks thoughts.
TIA
