Iodine for crocea?

awestruck

New member
I just was reading up at Marine Depot on crocea clams. It says that they require an "introduction to iodine". I have iodine but no testing kit so I'm afraid to add even a miniscule amount.

I have had my crocea for about 1-1/2 weeks (I posted in here last week). It only opens a crack and after some discussion we thought it might be getting too much light because it was in a darkly lit tank at the pet store. I moved it several times and it still isn't opening.

Any thoughts? TIA

Dont waste your time. Iodine isn't really known to be very influential for many inverts, and as far as I know, clams arent very needy of it. I would guess the iodine in make up saltwater would be more than enough.

i agree 100%, regular water changes to replace trace iodine ( and other elements with the exclusion of Ca, Alk and Mg, which should be tested for and maintained ) is all you need unless you are running a huge softies tank. a bit off topic but still on :), i was told to never add iodine to the tank but instead to use iodide.
