iPhone app for coral identification

for you guys who have an iphone, there is an app called Reefs, which is a free download, although you have to purchase the coral database for $0.99
There are IDs for chalices, LPS, SPS, soft corals and zoas.
Although it cannot be complete due to nature's large variety, it is pretty damn good
see what you think:fish1:

Hey, Nanodoc. I can see why you like your app so much. Here is what I found when looking for one on Android.

"We are happy to announce that the Reefs app is now the premier mobile app for ORA Coral identification. The app combines ORA's awesome official photos of each species as well as care information direct from the guys who farm these popular corals. The ORA guide is included in the unlockable Coral Database. When you go into the app you will see the ORA section in the list and can then browse all of the different corals they offer."

They do not have an Android version at the moment. I haven't found anything even close for my phone. I hope they will support Android in the future.

Time to stuff dollarbills in Steve's coffin?
I don't have iPhone 5 yet but upgraded the IOS6 free
Maybe I can scan a dorsal fin and it gives me choice for the cheapest closest place to buy it..

Ha ha ha. How is iOS6 working out for you? I know they replaced Google maps with apple's own map program, but I think it needs lots more work. Other than that it is supposed to be pretty solid. Good luck with that dorsal scan. :p

Apple Maps suck.
But I am glad Reefs has an app, it gives me some credibilty when I show off my tank and say:
"it's an Acropora Yongei" rather than "it's a green slimer".....

Yea call me a fam boy IM SUMSUNG FOR LIFE!!!!

I currently have an HTC which works great for me and the family, but I'm currently eyeing a Galaxy for our next phone next summer. Technology moves so fast that something else may be out by then though. I will say that Samsung has definitely displaced HTCs surge in the market. Whatever I get, I will eventually hack it as well.
