Is 10 Weeks enough to determine a tang ich free or not?

I bought a purple tang 10 weeks ago. It is eating well, looks healthy and from what i can see it has not had white spot during these 10 weeks. I look at it many times a day expecially searching for white spots reason being my orevious 3 tangs had ich before. Because it appears to be healthy, no darting, no scratching on any object, breathing is normal rate i have not treated it with any kind of medications include fluke. Given of the above would you consider it to be ich free or do i need to observe longer?

I would run the tang through TTM for peace of mind. Ich does not have to be visible to be present (subclinical infection).

Hi Chris

I see what you meant and understand that if ich is in gills especially then we woukdnt see it. It is such an healthy happy gish i dont want to put it through TTM. If i keep it in QT for 6 months observation would you think it caj be an alternative?

I personally would not put any fish in my DT that has not gone through TTM. It's not stressful, and can be completed in 12 days. 6 months in a small tank for observation is stressful, IMO.
