Is 100% silicone all the same?

What is the best silicone to use on making a glass tank? Best in strength, 2rd clarity? Guess all 100% are not the same? Thanks

No they are not all the same. 100% silicone is somewhat misleading. There are certainly very different formulations. There are several threads here at RC that discuss some of the different high end products. What is your exact application?

Just picked up some baffles from my glass guy.

His exact words concerning 100% silicone.
"Don't use any silicone that doesn't say Aquarium safe,
there's all kinds of mixtures claiming %100, Acid for one"

Play it safe and spend the extra $'s

BeanAnimal, Thanks, As stated, I want to make a glass tank. I have all the class cut just need to assemble it. Thanks

I used the GE Silicone for windows & doors from your local hardware store.

Don't use the one that says mildew protection or the sort.

@ Giga : do you know of a website with the data sheets on those silicones ? I would like to look up the maximum tensile strenght, to compare it to Dow Corning 995. Can not find this on the GE 1200 also...

Based on the little i could find, dow corning 995 seems to be the strongest silicone;
