Is a light in the back filter worth it?

I have an innovative nuvo 40 and a light that is made for he back of it against the glass.

I'm happy to use a bag of carbon and I have a pretty robust skimmer. If there's a significant benefit I'd set it up, thoughts?

Objective is a rockin lps tank with a clam and 1-2 fish

You might want to use the light to light chaeto or another macro algae in the lit compartment. The idea is to grow algae where you want (hidden), rather than in your display.
