Mine WAS NOT reef safe. He was good for the first 8-10 months, maybe even a year. But then 1 day I saw him pick at my Stylophora. I wound up losing the colony from it being constantly picked at. Then he went after my Superman Monti, which I also eventually lost. He also picked at my Favia, Acans, and my Micromussa. All of them survived though. I couldn't catch him without removing all the LR. So I didn't. But after 2 yrs he died in his sleep. Which was good and bad. Bad because I liked the fish, but good because my corals could finally heal. The Favia and the Acan are doing great. The Micromussa had a little tougher time, but is getting better after about 6 months.
So I would advise against it. I do like the fish very much and would put 1 in a FOWLR but never again in a reef tank for me.
