is it just me or is the gen-x GX-4100 the noisyest pump out there, the first one had a broken shaft, so i returned it , but this second one it just down right loud, i cannot find the reciept for it and i dont know if kermits will take it back , its plumbed with 3/4'' soft plastic tubing. any one else have this experiance?

Yes ... tried 2 Gen X.... WAY loud. Ended up with an Eheim.

But a lot of people have been happy with them, so I think it's hit or miss.

I used a Gen X PCX 40 for a while, and found them to be very loud. I have since switched to the Poseidon Titanium T2. I absolutely love it. You can't even tell that it is on. It has no fan on it; so it runs a little warmer than the Gen X; but the foot print is a little smaller and the cost is comparable to the Gen X.

Don't think you can get one locally. I got mine used on RC, but I know that Marine Depot sells them.

Jim, where is the 4100 located at? in a glass or acrylic sump? in a wooden stand? It's bad about vibrations, and it is a little noisy but not intolerable. Put some foam underneath it, that generally fixes it.

its in a 29 gal glass sump in a wooden stand , i just picked it up off the bottom of the sump and its still a little noisy but noware as bad as it was about 80% better though, thanks Chris does Dave have any scrap foam there?
