Is it possible to house a mandarin in a 30g tank if

><((((o>

In Memoriam
I added a big ball of chaeto about 1.5 litre size to house/breed copepods in my DT and along with a 6g refugium? I know a mandarin needs like a 75g tank to survive but some guy told me adding tons of LR in a 30g would work too, was wondering if I added tons of chaeto in my tank would it be possible too?

As long as you can dose them daily from the culturing. I would go with a bigger size tank to culture them. Its possible but I wouldnt say without a doubt if it would work or not

I won't have a culturing tank, but only a huge ball of chaeto to house the copepods inside my DT, duno would it work, only if I can some how train the mandarin to eat non-live food.

Then no...that wouldnt work. You would need to continuous add pods.

And prepared food is only minimal workable. I wouldnt suggest it

Im speaking from experience with a BC and target mandarin. He was pretty much starving.

I now have a mandarin in my 40 breeder but I dose my fuge every 2 weeks and the rock in my tank is well established

If you dun mind me asking how do you dose the copepods from the culturing tank to your DT? Do you suck them with a turkey blaster?

I keep one in my 28g and he has been so fat and healthy ive thought about adding a second. I only feed pellets and frozens. It does take some work to get them trained to eat, and i spot feed mine a few times a week to make sure he is eating enough. Not much work, and way more cost effective than adding tons of pods. He loves brine, mysis, and new life spectrum pellets. He is also an ORA tank bred, which makes it easier from the get go.
