Is it really ich? Need confirmation.

So, I was about to start CP treatment today, but I want to first reconfirm, because some of the signs are not consistent with ich from what I've read. I've given up on pictures, but perhaps a detailed description will help.

Here are the symptoms:
- Symptoms on hippo started about 2.5 weeks ago.
- All fish ok except hippo tang.
- Hippo is eating well and not showing any signs of stress
- No flaring nor scratching that I've observed.
- White specs on his skin come and go
- The spots are not all like "grains of sand", which I've read is classic for ich
- Sometimes they are white dots, but most are more like whitish fuzz. Once in a while they are more like white paint blotch. These go away within a day.
- Most of the spots are on and around his eyes (both eyes)
- Eyes are cloudy and have multiple raised spots on them (same fuzz-like texture)
- Some days eyes almost clear up, then flare up again.

I've done a lot of research, and the main reason I think it's ich and not something else (especially flukes) is because he has not deteriorated (stopped eating etc). From what I've read, flukes kill fast, while ich can come and go and generally does not immediately kill fish.

Any opinions?

I'm not sure if you have Ich or not, but I can tell you that flukes DO NOT typically kill fast. I've known people who have fish with all the classic symptoms of flukes and wait months before beginning treatment. The "whitish fuzz" could be Lympho or something else. The "white dots" would have to be under the skin in order to be Ich; anything on top of the skin is something else.

I agree.
