is it worth 6000?

I was going to buy it, but I decided to EAT and pay bills this year instead.... :)

Very cool looking fish though!

Very cool until it gets stressed and wipes out your tank. That would be my luck. Then again if I spent 6k on a fish my wife would kill me long before the fish had time to get stressed out.

is it worth 6000

the answer is very subjective to the view points of 6 million people.

to me no its not, but then again that particular fish wouldnt trip my trigger at a price of free, but for some one who can afford it and wants one as bad as i want a black tang then the answer could be yes..

Just because I'm not buying it doesn't make it worth less than the price. It just means I don't want it.

It would be a nice $6000 snack for my trigger :)

Serious though, a fish is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it. I'm sure they will find a buyer.

Is it worth $6k? Not for many, but it certainly is for the divers who risked their lives at 400ft getting it! How about these:

$250k for a wrist watch!

$1.85 million for a car!

$16 million for a horse!

There are many deep pockets out there people, don't be mistaken! This tuna below sold for $736k!

There are expensive versions of everything, and people willing to buy them!

I hope someone snatches this fish up and gives it a great home. I think it's very cool but a bit above my pricepoint.

IF I had the extra income I would not think twice about paying that kind of $ for a rarely seen fish. Much better, IMO, than spending thousands of dollars a year on sending spoiled brats to private school. :D

I think there is a big difference between saying a fish is worth something and being able to find someone with so much disposable money that they are willing to pay.

And the diver made a choice. That doesn't necessarily make the fish "worth" some particular amount, although it explains scarcity.

Besides, the fish is defective. The listing says the maximum size is 3" but that one is 3 1/4". That is worth a $5,500 discount.

Anything is worth whatever someone will pay for it; at least to the buyer. I imagine most people in the world can't imagine anyone paying $5 for any little fish.

I feel it is definitely worth it if you can afford it.. But for me I am a oddball person so if I can afford it then I would buy it but it is way off what I can afford...

Genicanthus Personatus. If I had the proper environment . . .

Not directed to anyone particular. A higher price fish on DD always brings a thread like this. To many folks; people spending lots of own their own money on a (relatively) expensive fish is really controversial, but not providing the proper environment for all fish constantly goes unnoticed.

Yes...and.....the first thing that came to my mind.....if these fish are soooo deep in the ocean that special divers and equipment are the only way to get them, should they even BE in our 1-4 foot deep tanks?
