Is it worth spending extra $60 on CREE

I am looking at this 24 x 3W led unit with dimmer. It comes with bridgelux led. The same unit will come with CREE led for an extra $60. Is it worth it?

Depends on the dimensions of your tank. Also, i tend to think that if I'm going to have a dimmer better to be safe then sorry and go with the higher output/better efficiency. So imo Yes Cree, especially if your going to have a dimmer.

It is Fluvial edge 12 gallon tank about 17" deep.
Without the dimmer, it wouldn't really matter?

what are you planning on keeping, i'm pretty sure bridgelux would be fine for you, if you don't care too much about the slight efficiency difference. And the reason dimmer matters is, if you don't have the dimmer and you get cree, it could actually be too bright, and end up bleaching your corals. I have Cree LED's on my 18'' deep tank, and i never have them on 100%, the max i have them set at is like 70. The lights are about 10-12 inches off the water now. Even then i'm still having some corals fade a bit on the sand bed, but i think they're just getting used to the LED's. Good luck!

Mine will be placed 1"above water with glass top in between. Would it be safe to get the dimmer unit even with bridgelux led?
