I bought the candy cane 2 weeks ago from lfs,the first week was great at night i would see tenacles coming out,so everything looked healthy. Last week it looked like it started to close up and at night i woudn't see tenacles come out no more,so i let i be. But its been 2 weeks allready and he looks worse now. Whats wrong?? I got my calcium, alk,mg test yesterday and everything came out.

Ammonia 0
Nitrates 0
Nitrate 10ppm
Ph 7.8

Im using orbit marine led lights.
Its a 30 gallon tank.
No fish bothering him.
I have him on my rock maybe 6 inches from the sand bed.
He gets medium flow.

I should add i also have a frogspawn and duncan and both are doing great.

Question, does it look brown or whitish color? I can't tell from the picture. If it's brown it may not be getting enough light and if whitish it may be getting too much light (bleaching). Most profiles said moderate light and flow, but I have had success with moderate flow and low light.

I would try moving it to a place with less flow actually. My candy cane was struggling a little like yours; no tentacles at night, didn't look great. Now that I have moved the coral that has low flow, the tentacles have come out and it has split 3 times in a month. Worth a shot.

Also, do you have any peppermint shrimp? I had a peppermint shrimp that was eating one of my other candy canes. Once I got the shrimp out, it has recovered.

+1

mine was looking pretty bad.. moved to low flow and it looks much much happier.

My Candy Cane looked like it was dead. I was going to remove it, but the bigger head still had a few sweepers out. I figured I leave him in the tank a little longer. I had just bought a bottle of PhytoGold-M by Brightwell and put some in the tank that night after a water change. The next day both heads were fully blown up all sweepers were out. They actually look like different Candy Canes.
