Is my coco worm dead

Hey, ive had this cocoworm in my tank for about 6 months now, i feed him phtoplankon 2-3 a week and his like out all the time in my tank, but for the last 4-5 days he hasnt come out at all, im not sure about the in the dark if he came out but i havent seen him yet in the day time. Is he dead?

its possible that it is dead, but i have had them pop their top, vacate their tube, and start all over. I didnt see it for a month and then all of the sudden it showed back up in another part of my tank.
 
To check you can feel the tube. Gently. If it's firm or you can feel the worm moving inside it's okay and just let it be. If it feels empty or a lot of brownish particulates/ slime comes out the worm has probably died.

They can reverse themselves in their tubes and build in another direction to pop up in a different part of the tank as Aural said.
