I came out this morning to find my Fungia looking like this??

Over these past few hours or so, whatever that thing its mouth has retracted into it, but still about an inch or so is showing.

Here is a photo from just now, about 2.5 hours later.

The brownish stuff at the base of whatever it is is poo. I think it may be from my gramma, but may be from the coral. Not sure.

Is that its insides or did it catch some large "thing" in my tank? It almost looks like a shrimp type creature or something. I have never seen anything like that swimming around, but I haven't done many night time inspections at all. If it is its insides, is that really bad sign??

Just an update, now the "tentacle" looking part of whatever that is is laying beside the fungia, and the mouth of the coral is closed and all of its tentacles are retracted. If that was some type of creature in my tank it captured, I'm amazed because it was pretty good size and I never saw anything like it moving around. I also only have one shrimp, and just got him so if it molted or something, that would surprise me. Hmmmm...

Looks like a shrimp molt to me as well, in fact I'd put $5 on it ;) But if you dont have a cleaner or peppermint, watch your finger tips my friend! Could be a pistol shrimp!

I'm also pretty sure it was simply my cleaner shrimp molting. I continue to learn so much about this hobby. We got our cleaner shrimp about a week ago, so I never had that happen. Another learning experience!!
