Is my home really this dirty? oh my

I few weeks ago, I took the cages off my Hydor powerheads to clean them from any dirt and hair that has collected on them. I didn't think much of it, AT FIRST. Cleaned it off, placed them back on the powerhead and done. Well, I was looking at these powerheads again tonight and noticed that there was hair and dust on them again. Which got me thinking, Is this house really that dirty, or is this a common thing to happen? I do have an open top aquarium, and any floaties in the air I would assume make their way in to the tank. To me, that's kinda gross to think about. Maybe this happens to everyone, but then again, I don't know.

You are probably wondering why is there hair in my tank. Well, we do have three dogs. They are all shedders, so I assume that a strand or two has made it in to the tank. Nothing major in the amount of hair, but still there is a hair or two in the tank around each powerhead cage.

What's the question? Does everyone run in to this same issue? Or is it just me?

You are not alone! Powerheads collect all kinds of junk. I have a long haired cat, a pug and long hair myself. I fish my own hairs out of the tank sometime!

I'm going to invest in a quality air purifier. Should help in a minor way.

Yes, pet owners homes have it tough. We have two dogs..small tiny dogs. I feel like half my life is spent cleaning..its amazing what we spend on cleaning products.

I'm fairly sure my standards are not insane, all of us live differently but most know what a clean home is and how hard it is to keep.

I wish i could afford a maid.

I would say we are typical. Not spotless and not a pigsty. We have 3 tanks in our main living area. Two short haired dogs, 2 medium haired adults. If hair is the worst thing my tanks get, I'm OK with that.
At one time we had 4 'shedder' dogs. When the sun hit the family room, I was amazed that we were able to breathe. I was sweeping up at least a softball size ball of dog hair daily. But we didn't have tanks then or it might have been me as the OP.

Yea I have 2 cats, a wife, and a big long haired dog. There is hair everywhere, and the powerheads have some hair on them. Unavoidable IMO.

When my Malamute was still alive, she would always be with me. There was quite a few frag plugs with some malamute hair stuck to them waving in the current.

funny you say that. There have been so many times that I am doing something and there is a piece of dog hair that is found on or around it. Funny thing is, the dog was no where in sight! ***!!!

Between the saint bernard, the black lab, and the blue heeler...............we find more lab hair than anything......

We could all afford a maid - if we weren't spending so much on our tanks! Haha, joking...I try and clean off powerheads as routine maintenance. They are pretty efficient at collecting stuff.

We got a Neato, cuts down on 90% of the dust. A quality air filter on your A/C will also help if changed regularly.

We bought the cheapest Neato that took the filters from the most expensive one, saved a few hundred bucks. They are all the same base model, added some $20 aftermarket filters and it is magic.
