Is my temp swing a problem?

I have been battling with horrible temperature swings for a looooooong time and finally thing I may have gotten a hold of it. For the most part, my temp only swings less than 1 degree (farenheight). Today my tank ran 81.4 (at the peak of the day), and at night is it running 79.3.

Is an occasional 2 degree temp swing a major problem? Should I be tweaking my system a little more to improve on the temp situation?

BTW, the reason that I am asking in this forum is because it is a SPS dominated tank, and I am asking purely for the care of the SPS.

Thanks!

My tank only relies on three cooling fans and my temperature swing is 1-2 degrees per day. I have over twenty sps colonies growing so one can surmise that the often quoted 1 degree temperature fluctuation may need some reviewing. I would prefer no temperature swings but am too cheap to buy a chiller.

You may try just lighting one side with metal halides at a time for maybe 4-5 hours each while keeping either VHO or power compact actinics on for 12 hours covering the entire tank. That is what I have been doing since april because of the overheating and wide temperature swings.
