i have one maroon clown that has been established in my tank for a few months. she's about an 1 inch and a half long. i recently bought another maroon clown from the LFS. i've heard that they've had it for a while and its slightly smaller than the one i already have. i have them recently caged off but still able to see each other. my first maroon clown shows a lot of aggression towards it. where the new one shows aggression on occasion but submits to when the older one shows aggression. its obvious which one is showing more dominance. but what are the chances that they both are already female?

Make sure that the size is much different - such as 1/2" or more. It is possible (watch out for fighting, you may have to move one into a breeding net or put a divider up) to do it the way you are talking about. Most folks will tell you to go with the largest size difference you can and cross your fingers.
