Is purple up concidered a ca additive?

I found out that Kent liquid calicum gives me a higher calcium rating than purple up based on the recommend amount to dose and also promotes coraline fast than purple up.

purple is is recomended for new aquariums only with no corals. as it says so on the bottle. but yes, it does increase calcium, alk, iodine and a few other things.

i used this product and somehow missed the the part where it says "for new aquariums". Yes it did work good on the coraline growth part. but they dont tell you how it will kill yer clams. i noticed my trids were starting to look like poo after a few weeks of using it. it was too late. i stoped using it because it hurts filter feeders.they dont naturaly eat chunks of minerals everyday for breakfast. so use with caution everybody!

I used it in my tank, but stopped after I got my Maxima clam. I still dose it in the wife's tank though, seems to work well.

It can crash tanks too. Its like crack, you can't just get off of it. If you decide one day to stop, everything that use to feed off of it will die off due to the fact that it is getting way less then what it usually gets.

I consider it an additive. It boosts the calc. as well as other levels up.
