is there a reef safe ick treatment with even marginal effectiveness ?

This is a newer tank and right now we have one fish showing small white crusty looking blobs on his fins and people have seen him scratching on the rocks.

This is an office tank I just don't think I have the ability to remove all the fish much less quarantine them all for over a month somewhere. I know this wont solve the current issue but we did add a large UV sterilizer and ozone to the system last week.

I have tried Herbtana and it's not worth a squirt of fish pee.

I don't think there is any truly reef safe ich treatment. The closest I have come: I have used chloroquine phosphate with good success, though it is not completely reef safe. This is not easy to get.

I have also used quinine sulfate. However, it killed every one of my corals and all the bristle worms, polluting the tank.

When I've had ich or velvet in my large DT with large fish, I have saved the worst infected fish by removing them daily and giving them dips followed by 1-2 hour baths, once or twice a day. Very labor intensive, but I have often had good success over the years. This was often the only way to save very sick fish even while treating the tank with an effective, but slow, treatment. I have some old threads detailing what I did.

For the most part, you are better of setting up a hospital tank if you can.

Your anthias in the previous post does not have ich, it has Lymphocystis, which does not need treatment, just good water quality, nutrition and less stress.

I don't know of any reef safe meds for ich. If there were they would be the single most purchased medication not some sort of hidden gem that only a handful of people know about

I wouldn't use Chloroquine Phosphate in a reef. It may effect some or all of your corals adversely, same with inverts and algae. My experience with it has been somewhat mixed.

i was informed by my LFS that pureed fresh ginger and garlic and soak in food or broadcast in tank ( 1 drop per 10 gallon) its is a natural immune booster. and I have had success with it
