Ehhh... not exactly. Most likely any puffer will do some kind of damage to a full blown reef tank, whether it's the lps or the shrimps or whatever that are at risk. With some planning and careful stocking though, some types can be kept in reef tanks that work around the fish's appetite.
I had a valentini puffer that would eat snails and nibble at acros, but he totally ignored softies.
