Big Als local store is selling Gold Tip BTA. They appear to have gold color only on their tips and the rest of their body is clear and not gold.

They said they are not bleached and it is their natural color.

What you think anemone experts?

looks bleached, but wouldn't say its a gold bta. the Colorado sunburst anemone would be the closest in color imo

It is taken under blue light and my phone camera sucks. It is much yellow/orange/gold on the tips.

How can someone bleach an anemone?

No, they arent actually bleaching it. Bleaching can occur through stress or poor nutrients in the water for example. Typically not a good sign

So I went back to the store and was able to negotiate it down to $60 tax included from $110. I think it is poor feeding and the manager admitted that they don't spot feed their anemone. I am taking my chance for $60.

Here is a better pic of the Yellow/Lemon BTA

Nuh uh, I think the other pic was better! LOL. Can you get one closer and not angled in all seriousness? Looks nice from what I can see.

I am guessing those last two pics were not of the same anemone.

Anyway, the yellow tipped anemone has lost a lot of its symbiotic algae (which is why the rest of it looks so white) and the tentacle count is a little sparse. Both are signs that you need to feed this guy a little and not depend solely on good lighting to get it into better shape. A small pencil erasure sized piece of shrimp, scallop, fish, etc., twice a week for a couple months should do the trick until it regains its zooxanthellae.

Thanks for the tips. I am feeding both BTA twice a week with variations such as mysis, LRS reef, or silverside :)
I am baby ing the guy and hopefully it pays off
