Is this a leak?

I am getting a decent amount of salt creep around the "return pipe" that goes down back into the sump. Its around the portion that connects the pipe into where the pipe makes a turn. (sorry for the lingo, this is my first overflow system).

Is there anyway that salt creep could be coming up from the sump? Or is there a leak where those two pieces connect. I don't ever see or feel any water there.

Thanks in advance for all advice/thoughts.

Likely a leak. Rather than tear your plumbing apart, an easy fix is to clean the pvc of the salt creep and wipe it dry and then slather silicone sealant around the seam a couple times.

Here's a pic of the potentially leaky pipe. Can I replace the pipe going straight down into the sump?

How could this have occured?

Thanks.

Tough to tell from the photo but the salt is likely coming from the sump itself. The tiny bubbles from the drain rise & "pop". This creates some minor salt spray, thus the dried salt. I took a piece of acrylic, cut a notch for the drain & slid it over the sump. Problem solved.

The salt creep is forming in a line straight down AND all over the pipe. Sorry its a bad photo but most of the salt creep is forming right where the pipe connects to the 90 degree pipe.

It is probably from the skimmer return on that ASM. Small micro bubbles are popping and spraying upwards, like the rook said. If you are worried use some aquamend around the seam.
