I got this little frag today. The lfs didn't have a name for it. It looks like a soft coral to me. Anybody have an id for it?

it almost looks like a carnation tree coral, in which case it is non-photosynthetic and would need daily feedings

That's the response I got on another forum. What do I need to feed it? Should I just return it bc its in a 10g and I don't want to overfeed the tank. Or would it survive if i just added rotifers to the fishes daily feeding?

hey Brittany, you're right, you don't want to overfeed the tank, but you still have to feed it. When you go to feed it, turn your pumps off so the flow is really low and just try to get as much as you can to the coral. Don't forget to turn them back on!! :) I forget all the time

Keep up on your waterchanges, and get some GFO or Phos-Lock to bring your phosphate down if it starts rising.

o yea, I don't know too much about that coral but I read it needs "algal plankton" , baby brine shrimp, & other foods for filter feeders; maybe ZooPlex?? A variety would be good for it.

Thanks. It's such a small tank that t should be pretty easy to Target feed. I put one drop of phytoplex in the tank and the coral closed up so it must have gotten some. Thanks for the input.
