Is this a type of algae?

Ok, well, I can't get a picture now, but I'll try to get one ASAP. Now my question; I bought a little piece of LR for my 10g nano and it has this big purple bump on it about the size of a quarter. It is maybe 1/4 of an inch tall. Any idea?

It probably is. It kinda looks like someone stuck a big piece of purple gum on it.
