Is this a Whelk? (Help ID)

Found this guy in my system recently...guess he was a hitchhiker. Is this a "Whelk?" I have read mixed things about them, any of you have experiences with keeping them.

Yes that is a whelk and it will feed on snails and possibly other animals. Someone else might be able to ID it to genus / species for you.

Good to hear from you (met you at Henry's). That is what I was afraid of. I recently found two dead snails. Could have been a coincidence...could have been this guy. Guess I will get him out of the tank next time I see him.
