I have had this Blue Prostrada coral for about three weeks now. This is my first test coral to see how an SPS would handle in the tank. Tank has been up for about 3.5 months now. I have a few snails and 2 clownfish which have been doing really well. I went thru a small diatom phase. The tank was started with Dry sand and dry rock and fish flake. A fellow reefer gave me a few small pieces of rock to help introduce the coralline after 2 months. Shortly afterwards the HA phase came and was nothing but few spores throughout the tank followed by tiny shoots. Nothing ever spread and the snails took care of it within a short time.
Test parameters are all tested using API test kits.
0 ammonia
0 nitrite
0 nitrate
0 phosphate
480 Calcium
9-10 Alk
ph 7.8-8
Red Sea Coral Pro Salt
Lighting LED Maxspect 160.
600gph return and 2 koralia 1050 PH on a 39 Gal Cadlight cubeish tank.
Tunze Osmo for ATO
Chaeto in the sump
Skimmer is running well and pulling out a decent amount of stuff.
The coral did well the first week. Then all of a sudden within 2 hours after the lights went out I noticed the tips turned white. The next few days the coral seemed to turn white underneath each polyp throughout the whole frag.
When this started I thought it may be low nutrients in the water as I only feed 2 small clownfish. I tried target feeding a tiny bit of marine snow for the last few days and the coral still is getting whiter. Each polyp is still extending and looks healthy just the rest of the frag is affected.
I am wondering if this is due to the chemistry or if it is lighting or flow.
Also not sure if this is worth noting but.. The 2 Rocks I had introduced for Coralline have really turned purple, just nothing seems to be spreading to other rocks or glass yet. I know this often takes time so I wasnt worried just figured it was worth mentioning..
Thanks in advance!
Mark
