Is this lighting powerful enough???

I have a 2X 250W 10,000K MH with 2X 65W PC 10,000 canopy. I know it's sufficient for a 55g with a 20" height, but what about for a 75g at 24"?

I got a great deal on the lighting system ($300 complete) so I'd like to get the max tank size possible. Well, also one that fits into the 48" X 15" oak stand I got free =).

I love this site. Friendliest site to newbs I've ever been on!

Is there a different 75 gallon that you are talking about getting? The standard I thought was 48x18x20. With that light you could go up to a 120 gal, but those are 48x24x24.

I ordered a Truvu tall 75g, 48X15X24. Had them add a corner overflow and return, as well as a dark blue background. Apparently the dark blue backgroud is new. It cost me about $500 after tax. There was a big jump in price from the bare 60g ($179) because the 60g height was only 18" height, and they need thicker plexi for the 24" 75g.

In general, 75 gallons are wider and easier to aquascape than 90 gallons. I dont want to hijack this thread, but I have a question about lighting as well. I have a standard dimension 75 gallon tank with dual 175W MH 8 inches from water surface: Could I keep some of the clams that demand higher light? I dont know the names off hand, but they are blue. I have a derasa thats on the bottom and doing great. If I can keep a blue clam, about where in the tank would you put it? (how high?)
