Is this MH fixture a fire hazard?

I have the opportunity to buy or trade for an Odyssea MH/PC pendant light fixture to be used over a frag tank.

I have read that some of the Odyssea fixtures have a reputation for being a potential fire hazard. This particular pendant has a 175w MH lamp flanked by two PC bulbs. In this case, the PC bulbs would not be used. It's a 20" fixture. It's been in service with other reefers for about 2 years already.

Does anyone have any feedback on this fixture?
Can you tell by the pictures if it is a magnetic or electronic ballast?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thats the old fixture, they used to have tons of issues. Its a magnetic ballast which were the one that caught on fire.

If it is that old it’s probably the old magnetic version of their lights. The newer version of the obyssea lights has gotten some pretty good reviews when the ballast and bulbs were upgraded. If it were me I’d pass on this light, why even risk it.

My friend, who's a fireman, says that a lot of MH's are fire hazards. He says if their are other options (T-5's) then he'd go with those due to the number of MH fires he's attended. Scared me. Wondering where we'd get that information, bc it's definitely something the companies would squash.
