Is this normal?

I bought a frag of Red People Eaters about 2 months ago. There were 2 polyps. They both opened up after about a day and did fine for about 3 weeks then they began to close up. 1 eventually melted away but the other remained close but never started to melt. It remained closed for almost a month, I thought it was dead but I never took it out of my tank. It's starting to open back up today why was it closed so long? Is that something they do from time to time. My parameters have always been good and all of my other Zoa's are doing great.

every once in awile, we get zoos that will simply melt away which is just painful to watch. i've had several zoa polyps that stayed closed for weeks but would re open again. not sure why, maybe someone else can shine a light on this issue, but it's happened to me.

Sometimes I will have a frag close up while it's producing offspring. Look around the base and see if there is a bud.
