aptesia, spelling might be off, there are a couple things you can use to kill it. Joe's Juice is a popular one, and Tropic marine makes a similar product but I can't seem to remember the name of it. Just go into your LFS and announce "I Bigginapk have aptesia and I require a means of destroying it" they will get you the right stuff.

jsl6v8 Thats too funny !! I will do it, too. Its attached to a frag, I cant just take it out and scrape it off or will that just make it spread !? Thanks cowboyswife! How the RBTA doing ?

I'm not sure, could you post a larger picture, almost looks like a tube worm the way I'm seeing it, but I've never heard of a red tubed tube worm before.

well if it is what I think it is, kill it, but I'm not entirely sure that it is what I think it is. If it is what I think it is, I had them they had very long tenticles, a handful of inches long and when I would touch on they would retract, rather quickly really, they were attack my corals and ****ing them off. I would kill them by either taking them outside and chucking them down the street, or crushing the shell with some acrylic tubing that I had, I was more fond of the chucking them down the street method though. Although to this day I fear calls from PETA. But like I said I'm not entirely sure thats the same thing as what I had.

someone on another forum called it a Vermetid Snail after googleing it, thats what it appears to be. says to be harmless unless it overpopulates the tank. Which could happen if there where a bunch more and said to reproduce quickly after a few months and could cause no harm other than clogging up plumbing and restrickting water flow. says it is a great food for a hermit crab which is where I think I will send him to the big fish bowl in the sky !! With a little help from me too save myself some future problems. Thanks for the help !!
