I have read about crabs and anemones but I never thought I would see my red hermit with a flower/rock anemone on his back. This just happened today and the crab is running around my tank is this ok or should I be concerned?

Sorry about the glare in the pic

i think its cool, the only problem i see is the anemone stinging other coral as he walks around the tank.

i would put another shell next to the hermit and hope he takes to it. then u can move the anemone around the tank.

cool

I don't have to much coral yet the tanking is new still, I guess it is pretty cool but I don't have a shell big enough for that size hermit anyways.

Should I take this anemone off the crab? he is running around like crazy. The aneomone is still eating but I don't want him to die.

I remember reading in the wild that anemones and crabs form symbiotic relationships like this. When the crab changes shells the anemone will change with him.

I don't think there's anything to worry about except possibly other corals that might get stung since it's extra mobile.

Well The anemone jumped off today and is looking pretty bad but his foot is planted. I am gonna see if he eats tonight, I hope he does.

Dave, I'm really sorry to hear that your nem isn't doing well, but that could be more related to the age of your tank than from the ride it got from the hermit.

I will admit that I chuckle everytime I see the picture of that little workhorse carrying around that nem.
