is this STN?

i bought this piece a few weeks ago, it was really browned out due to low lighting and i got it for $15 so i figured if i could bring its color back, sweet, if not then i'd only he out $15. part of the base is bleached but i haven't really noticed it spreading. or it might be spreading at such a slow rate that i would not notice much difference from one day t the next.

i would like to know if this is stn and if i should be worried about it or not.

yes I would say STN. It does not look good but it is possible to bring it back. Do you have other acropora colonies that are doing well?

no other acropora yet. sps i have hydnophora, birdsnest, pocillipora, a couple of small caps. none of those have shown any problems in the two months i've had them

would i have to frag it up or could the piece survive as a whole?

I think if you keep your water parameters solid it should re encrust and do well. This includes alkalinity swings and large temp swings. if it continues to STN then I'd frag it to try and save a piece
