I have had a severe and quick outbreak of ich in my tank. I noticed it on sunday and immediately began hypo on my entire tank. Tonight is the night that I reach 1.009 SG. Anyways, over the course of the past 3 days my fish have been getting really bad. Its sickening that they are going through this. I can see it on my purple tang the most because of his dark color and basically what has happened is the salt grain white speckles have swelled up over his entire body and some of them are developing a stringy white thing that is connected to the fishes body and the original white dot hangs off of that. These are making him look like he has bursting blisters all over his body. I am starting to question my initial diagnosis of ich because of this fact but I have never really seen ich get very bad. So my question is, does this sound like ich or another parasite that I am not familiar with?
