Issue with Octopus Skimmer...help please

I changed out my sump(tidepool II) for a 10 gallon. The skimmer and return pump can fit in a 10 gallon with more room than my old tidepool so I am officially setting it up today.

How would you put a sock on it? Does anyone have a picture with their Octopus skimmer and a sock on it?

With the gatevalve mod, the output from the skimmer (on mine anyways) has to dump above water level. So I put a filter sock in the sump so the water dumps into that and then has to flow through the sock. The top of the sock is wide open and about 1-2" above water level, so if the sock clogs the water will rise and overflow the sock. If that happens, pull the sock and clean it. I would not want anything 'tied' to the outup incase it clogs, the water is going to back up into the skimmer and and overflow the skimmer.

I can snap a pic in a little while for you to help explain what i'm talking about.

Something does not sound right here? There is at least 6in from where the water is pumped in to where it exits through the pipe at the bottom of the reaction chamber. On my 200 the bubbles don't even come close to the bottom-even after the mesh mod.

Got any pics of how yours is set up? I've got the same skimmer and to get it running the best, there is only about 3" at the bottom of the skimmer where there aren't 'alot' of bubbles, yet they still exit the skimmer. No biggie really as I run a filter sock on the drain, but just curious how yours is set up.
