Its pretty but what is it

Could anyone tell me what red leaf is and is it good or bad? It is very pretty and truly inhances the tank.

I have some of it in my TBS tank as well. I was told it was some type of macroalgae.

Some form of Ulva? Not sure but wish I'ld gotten some. Very nice.

docklink, when I first gotten my rock, this red leaf life was nowhere to be found. Then after a month a couple of little red leafs appeared. They were about the size of a pea, then a month after that it grew into what you see now. So keep an eye on your rock, you may see a little leaf real soon.

I have it all over mine too. It didnt show up till the tank was set up for about 4 months. One of the nicer looking algae for sure. The only complaint i have with it is that if it gets loose from the rock it is sucked up and clogs the strainer on my powerheads. Just make sure to clean those and enjoy!

i had some when i first got my rock. my yellow tang ate it all within a few days of being added to the tank.

i believe thats gracilaria aka tang heaven. do a search on it. good stuff too have.
