**** it, I've DIY'ed glass holes with my diamond dremel bit and now it's time to take on acrylic on a small scale.

I'd like to build a Recirculating skimmer with dual needle wheel pumps (maybe 2 sedras), with an inlet for an ozone generator, and something like a phosban media reactor / reverse flow for the output so that I can fill it with carbon to remove excess ozone after.

time to start gathering designs and customize.

Did I here workshop, DIY, Skimmer, I'm curious about the recirculating skimmer design? If it's recirculating how many passes will get through it?

Well i believe there are talks of a DIY skimmer workshop at fishy but the store isnt done yet so once the store is back open look out for that as well as a few other workshops.

I think a nice counter current skimmer workshop would be great. different size skimmers DIY for different size tanks.

I guess we should keep an eye out at the website to see whats going on

I'll talk to Les about giving a workshop on building skimmers, I have all the materials. I'll just bring down the tools, and show how I build counter current skimmers, I'll build different size one's for different applications, sump, hang on, one with a return that diverts water into a chemical media chamber.

This skimmer would be a great workshop project, sci33 if you have some ideas on paper, email them to me I will draw up some finished plans.:thumbsup:

Actually,

I just spoke to a friend of mine who had access to some acrylics.

I'm going to send him the design and he's going to send me the precut parts.

All I'm going to do is glue everything together, and purchase the pumps seperately.

This will be great for a workshop as I can do it in front of everyone.

I will post my ideas for my skimmer once I do more reading and research.
